E6D-TC Alpine in MN with upgrades $800
Posted by: TomC - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - No Replies

This used to be my guitar. Gotoh tuners, Schatten HFN pick-up and Holter pickguard. I almost bought it back but I really need to be decreasing the head count. The listing says no shipping, but I am willing to help someone if they want to buy it. I use Pirate Shipping and guitars have been about $65 or thereabouts. The current owner's name is Dave. I have done 2/3 deals with him. Nice guy.

Recording acoustic guitars - DAW preference
Posted by: Meathead - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (16)

Hi all ... I am in the process of taking steps to record my fingerstyle guitar playing in a more professional and structured way. I'm curious to hear from others in the community about their experiences with recording their performances.
Do any of you regularly record your playing? If so, I'd be very interested to learn more about the digital audio workstation (DAW) software you prefer to use for your recordings.
Personally, I have been using Reaper as my DAW of choice up to this point. I've found it to be a decent tool for the most part, but I am a rookie. I've also been considering purchasing Logic Pro for my Mac setup, as I've heard many positive things about its capabilities for recording and producing high-quality audio.
I would appreciate any experiences and insights regarding the DAW software you use for your acoustic guitar recordings. What do you like or dislike about the specific DAW you've chosen? How has it helped (or hindered) your workflow and the quality of your recorded performances?

Wow this thing is a cannon with tone. Definitely has a growl to it that I love.

Was impressed with my AC522-CE at first, my I'm coming back around to the E10 non-TC top.

Eastman's build quality is out of the park.

  tusq saddle?
Posted by: dmoss74 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - No Replies

has anyone ever tried a tusq saddle in one of their eastmans? i'm thinking about trying one on my new e10ss-tc.

the guitar sounds great, but the added sparkle of the tusq might make for an interesting alternative to the bone.

i believe any of the pre-made blanks would need to be shortened--lengthwise--to fit the eastman. plus then there would be reducing the height...which is fine.

just checkingto see if anyone attempted this. if so, which guitar(s)?

thanks

  Non-TC E10D
Posted by: campacj - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (14)

I just recently purchased a Non-TC 2021 E10D. I must say that I'm very impressed. It seems Eastman has upped their game. The guitar is three years old and sounds and looks wonderful. I thought about buying a newer TC model but I decided to buy a used regular E10D. It seems that the entire acoustic guitar world is turning to making baked-top guitars to the point that regular (Non-TC) guitars are becoming hard to find. My question is:
I've heard some experts in the field claim that TC tops may sound better right off but after that, they don't age as well as the regular tops. This three-year told E10D sounds great NOW. I thought that buying a slightly aged guitar might be similar to the TC-topped guitar or might even sound better?!
I'd like to hear from those owners of BOTH TC and Non-TC models and get their thoughts on this matter. The only TC guitar I owned was a E1D-Special that I was rather disappointed with. I actually liked the regular E1D better.

  RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ACOUSTIC PICKUP
Posted by: Romain - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (16)

Hi folks,

I recently purchased an Eastman AC222CE-OV, and although I love the tone unplugged, the plugged in tone with the Freshman Piezo under saddle pickup is terrible with way too much bass and greatly lacking in the high end.  I have the tone dial cranked right up and the High EQ on my mixer at max, and it still has no ring to the high frequencies.

I am therefore looking for an affordable replacement pickup and preamp.  One that has tone control or an EQ and I am not opposed to cutting out a hole in the guitar to accommodate an external preamp, but I need great plugged in sound.  All recommendations are appreciated.  thanks

  E22 SS/V quality and aging
Posted by: Pimpim85 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

Hi,
Fabien here from the Australian East Coast.
I very recently bought a E22 SS / V. I'm not a huge fan of relicing in general but the guitar sounded great on the online reviews so I bit the bullet and bought one from a reputable store in Australia.
Upon arrival the guitar looked good and sounded great. Impressed with the tonal range! The neck is a bit thicker than what I'm used too (Fenech VTHP blackwood) but no big deal.
While the guitar is overall well finished, the area around the rosace and especially the junction to the body looks terrible (see photos). The fretboard is not quite flush to the body, lots of glue residues, air buble under pickguard etc....
The shop was made aware of this and is happy to refund me (but it's going to cost me postage fees). However they told me these issues were part of the aging look... I call BS.
Am I being difficult here or shall I expect better QC from Eastman and return the guitar. I have to say I got a good deal (2300 AUD) on it but there was no mention of these imperfections by the shop.
Thank you for your feedback on this. It's my first Eastman so really was not sure what to expect. Soundwise it's a 10/10 but this issue is clouding the whole experience.
Cheers
Fabien
