New here. And getting my first acoustic.

Hey everyone! New here! I’ll be getting my first acoustic guitar. I played electric for a
Few years , and now I’m ready for an acoustic. It I can’t decide. I’m probably going to get both and then return one. I play left handed and no shops around me have left handed Eastmans. So I’m basing my decisions on YouTube videos. Here are the two guitars.

Eastman ac422ce. I love that it’s solid wood. I also enjoy the sound. I’m just concerned about durability. I want to keep this guitar for a very long time. And I don’t want to have quality concern issues.

Taylor 224ce-k deluxe. From speaking with friends Taylor seems well built, durable, and last a long time. However. I do like the sound, but it’s just a little too chimey for my ears.

I just can’t go and try them out. Wish I could.
So I just wanted to see what some of your thoughts and experiences are.

  SB55/v truss rod?
Posted by: Motu - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (1)

I just received a brand new SB55/V 2023 model... wow!
In the box, there was an Allen key. I thought it had a nut like Gibsons.
My question is, does it have a double-action truss rod or a single-action?
I just received it, and everything looks fine.
Thanks

  Eastman Slopes
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

Does anyone know whether the specification of the E10ss/v or E10ss has been changed since my 2019 model was built, in particular the distance across the middle of the sound hole from the left edge of the rather miimalist rosette to the right edge of the rosette (not the sound hole itself). If those of you with either an E10ss/v or E10ss could let me know what the measurement is, and if possible the year of build, I would be in your debt. I need to know this for a pickguard exercise I am conducting. Thanks, Alan

  NGD: E1OM-Special
Posted by: dmoss74 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

Having not bonded with a recent E8OM-TC I purchased, I moved off that and went looking for something else.

I found a new ('23) E1OM special at a local store. I was shocked at how good it sounded, so I snatched it up. I had previously owned one of the older E6OMs, but this thing is a beast compared to that one. Whatever batch of Sapele they made this one out of is fantastic. The sitka top (thermo cured) is very responsive and quiet pleasant to hear.

The one thing I really like is that this one is a true OM spec. ie, a 25.4" scale length. From the initial lauch of the OM line most of them have been classic 000 scale lengths. Which is fine. I loved the E6OM i had, and played it for years.

I'm still wishing they made non-torrefied topped guitars, but it is what it is. I would have liked to play one of these with a non baked top, but this one just beckoned.

Even the tuners (Ping) are different than other E series ones I have. The gears are gold, and the buttons are interchangeable. That's a nice touch.

Forget the "for the money" line. This guitar sounds great, and could easily be sold for more. It does only come with a gig bag, but I have a TKL tweed OM size case laying around that I can store it in.

  SB55/V fretboard binding?
Posted by: Motu - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - No Replies

Has Eastman started using binding on the fretboard on the SB55/V model?
I have to admit that I like the old model better.
