Hi everyone,
I've recently been to my local store to try out some Eastmans and really love the feel and sound of the E1D. I'm considering pulling the trigger but thought I'd have a look to see if there are any more "premium" models with the same or similar woods. I'm struggling a bit to find a clear comparison so thought I'd ask in here.
I really like the sound profile of the E1D and am not against picking it up at all, but just wanted to have a clear view on all my options before going for it. My budget is around £1200-£1300 which can stretch if needed, but also I'm not dead set on spending that much money if there are models out there that fit my needs for less!
My requirements are:
- Neck: Satin
- Top: Sitka spruce top
- Sides/Back: Ideally Sapele but open to other suggestions
- Full solidwood top, back and sides
- Dread or GA body shape
Definite nos:
- Gloss necks - my hands stick to them
- Mahogany top/full mahogany. It's not the sound I'm going for
Optional but nice-to have:
- Cutaway would be massive bonus points
- A pickup system would be nice but I can live without it
At the same time, I tried the E2D which I liked as well, but not as much as the E1D. I also tried the Taylor 514ce which was nice, but honestly I still preferred the sound of the E1D and at the price point of that guitar, I really didn't want to compromise on having a gloss neck.
