AR805CE
Posted by: Kevin Mcconnell - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (4)

I recently picket up a 2006 AR805CE, which is a great acoustic Swing guitar. This is the second one I've owned
I had to sell the old one a few years ago when we went on the road permanently in our travel trailer, but have since tossed out the anchor here in the Pacific Northwest, where we have gigs constantly and people are really great!
My question is: All 805's I've ever seen, including my last one, a 2008, have a kind of Gypsy guitar like cutaway (+ - 90 degrees to the guitar).
However, the one I now have has a cutaway resembling most other Eastman Archtops, like the 810's, etc..
I haven't been able to find another 805 with this cutaway anywhere, and am wondering if anyone else out there has an 805 with this type of a cutaway?
It's definitely labeled AR805CE, and is the proper dimensions, right woods, all hand carved solid Spruce/Maple, etc, so definitely not another model mis-labeled. Only difference is the cutaway.
It definitely has the great voice of an 805, and I'm quite happy with it, but just wondering if anyone else has come across another like mine??

  SB59 pickups brand
Posted by: jeroen73janssen@gmail.com - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (9)

Hi folks.

I try to get more information about my SB59. I think it’s a SB59 TV. Not sure though.
Eastman is not responding, so I just throw it in here.
I try to establish what pickups are installed. But there’s no brand name on tje baseplate. I know that Lollar makes pickups from Eastman exclusively, but I would expect some sort of recognisable mark somewhere. Does anyone know more? See the picture I took.

Thanks!!

  t59 t486 differences
Posted by: james - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (2)

hi guys I'm new to this forum . I already have a Eastman ar372 that I love but I changed the pickups to some hand wound pickups that I always put in my guitars .

I'm interested in buying a used t59 or t486 . is there much difference between the to other then the pickups and lacquer. is there any diffrence in the neck profiles. theres quite a price difference between the 2, so I'm tempted in getting the 486 and just changing  the pickups to some alnico 2 hand wound pups  in it

  SB59 or SB59/v? I can’t tell.
Posted by: jeroen73janssen@gmail.com - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (7)

Hi folks.

Jeroen from Holland here.
I recently obtained a secondhand SB59. But I wonder if it’s a /v or not. The finish is not bright and shiny. A bit semi-gloss. The hardware is aged (mat, dark, satin). Pickup covers are really aged. So that’s a /v, you might say. But here’s the thing: there is no relicing applied anywhere. No chips or scratches, no buckle rash, no fading finish or colour. Nothing. And the label on the backplate says ‘SB59’. No ‘SB59/v’. Is this relicing something that they don’t do on all /v models?

  Eastman Guitars: Price Rise
Posted by: AlanSam - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (5)

If you are thinking of buying an Eastman guitar now may be good time. The President-elect campaigned on a platform of higher tariffs — 60% on Chinese imports and 10% elsewhere was proposed. Existing stock shouldn't be affected by this although past experience might point to shops factoring pipe-line price rises into existing stock, so things could change sooner than might be imagined. Also, without the keen competition of cheaper imports guitar prices might rise across the board, albeit more gradually. I mention this as a non-American member of the Eastman guitar community.

A new Eastman (not a guitar, though).

It have a new Eastman mandolin: a MD605 A-style Acoustic-electric Mandolin - Goldburst. I'm a total clumsy amateur at Mandolin, but I hope to get (slowly) get better with (lots of) practice! Wish me luck!

Here's a few pics...

  Color of Sunbursts
Posted by: vintage42 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

It seems the perceived color of a sunburst depends on the light. Take my E10SS-TC-SB.

On the website of the local shop, their photo makes the burst appear warm colored:
https://www.stringinstruments.com/p-1826...w-hsc.aspx
However, in the store, the color appeared very different, a cool greenish.

On the website of Sweetwater, their photo also made the burst appear warm colored. But after buying that guitar, the burst has the same cool color as the one in the local shop. These two photos are the same guitar.

  nuts of machine heads
Posted by: gigicicu - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (3)

Hello everyone,
I noticed that on my Eastman E6 OM TC (wonderful), the nuts of the machine heads were moving and moving away from the head. If I try to tighten them, they spin freely. I have the impression that these nuts are simply glued to the head, without being on a screw thread. Do you think like me?
Best regards from France, Europe, and sorry for my english...
