A comparison of Eastman finishes
Posted by: droptune56 - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (3)

I think there was a post about the color of Eastman natural finishes. My 2015 822ff has a very light color while my 2006 ar904 is definitely honey color. In asking Eastman, the referee to the tint as honey ( definitely not yellow in any way ). I attached a side by side photo for anyone curious.

  Frets
Posted by: Zeiss - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (10)

I posted this in chatter and didn't see any response. Since it's only dealing with electric guitars I thought maybe this would be a better place .... (I was playing my 2019 t386 last-night and decided to go a little lower with the action . It has some high frets to 12th and needs the drop-off from 12 up addressed . I have a 146 and a 59 that both needed the frets lightly dressed . These 3 guitar's were purchased new . My two acoustic Eastman's are fine . My er3 was purchased used and needed alot of work , electrical, finish , I think I just polished the frets but can't remember .
I don't mind doing the work and enjoy the quirks of trully handmade guitars. But it seems Eastman is missing a important part of the final set up , at least on my 3 new one's . I did see someone comment the same on another site . Wondering if anyone here has experience this?)

  NGD-AC630 SB

This wonderful AC-630 recently came home with me. It sounds as great as it looks. Volume, projection, bottom end without getting muddy, yet clean across the register.
This is not the first Eastman I have had the pleasure of ownership, but it is the first super jumbo. Fit and finish are at their high standards, and did I mention tone?
Since I take weekly lesson from John (Chapbogie), I got to play this AC-630 when it first arrived. Like a sirens call, it would becon me to "come play, come play" every time I was in The Acoustic Shoppe. I hoped that one of you would save me and purchase this beauty. Thankfully that was not to be.
Last week on an unusual day off, I stopped in to really put the guitar through the paces (as I know them). John and I chatted for a bit about the guitar, it's build, etc. Then he said "play it and let me know what you think". Man, I ran through everything my cranium could think of; Stones, Robert Earl Keen, Little Feat, Robert Johnson, Guy Clarke, John Prine, The Beatles, on and on. This guitar delivered!
So John and I chatted some more about the tone, the quality, the beauty of this guitar, just comparing our impressions.
And now she rests comfortably in my arms.
If you get a chance to play an AC-630, DO IT.
I can also tell you that John and the folks at The Acoustic Shoppe are every bit as nice, warm, and honest as they are on the forums. Wonderful folks to work with.
Gotta run. Less keyboard and more fretboard time.

  E10SS/V Tuner Replacement
Posted by: Roy - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (30)

Had a buzz on the G string Ping tuner on my E10SS/V last week.
Pulled it out & re-seated, buzz gone.
Playing today the buzz is back.
Just ordered a set of Schaller Grandtunes.
Saw a guy that did a drop in replacement with the Grandtunes on his E10SS on the Eastman owners Facebook page. They look pretty solid.
Guess Eastman had to shave a nickel off the tuners with the cost of the French Polish.
My other two Eastman's have Gotohs that are silky smooth.

E20OM-TC vs. Martin OM28 Modern Deluxe
Posted by: sagebrush tom - Forum: Guitar Videos - Replies (1)

Interesting video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOeb82oXF_Y

The main differences although there are a few others Adi top, short scale for the Eastman vs. Sitka top and long scale for the Martin, And of course the price difference!
You be the judge on difference of tone, to my ears the Martin barely sounds better, but it should for the price difference and a few other options.

  T386 pickup change ?
Posted by: Zeiss - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (18)

I just joined last-night . Already have a question , my new t386 is beautiful . Acoustically it sounds fine , plugged in it's kinda lifeless. I played with the amp , tried my other amp . Not saying it's bad but not loving it . I'm thinking of changing to Seymour Duncan 59 bridge and phat cat neck . I already have the 59 here , what do you think ? Appreciate any input

I guess I should say I'm relatively new to eastman but have 5 already. Pretty new to learning guitar about 4years. I've been working on guitars for years to help rehab from a injury , finally sat down to learn to play . Have owned many guitars brands as a admirer, Gibsons, Godins , carvins and many more lol. Found a Eastman El Ray 3 that needed work , that did it . Love watching online how there built . The old-world construction hooked me . I started selling guitars to buy Eastman's .
