Eastman E2OM-CD

Has anyone played the new Cedar topped Eastman that was recently released?  I've always loved Cedar for fingerstyle.  Curious if anyone has played one yet, or if any of our dealers has feedback on the model?  (Ted/John?)

Kenny Burrell and Joe Negri on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood
Posted by: Wildfield - Forum: Guitar Videos - Replies (2)

Not anything to do with Eastman, but all to do with the guitar; jazz guitar.  Two great jazz guitar legends - Kenny Burrell and Joe Negri.  Someone posted this on Facebook.  Tipping my cap to Fred Rogers for airing this segment on his program.

Please school me on the El Rey ER3

I’m jones’n (Does anyone even use that word anymore?) for an ER3. This is based on absolutely nothing other than I think it is a beautiful guitar and I love the shape, and the weight being just over 6 lbs.

I’ve watched e few videos but would like to hear from someone who owns one

Thanks

Conrad

products for cleaning the axe (T486)?
Posted by: Tom3k - Forum: Eastman Electric and Archtop Guitars - Replies (16)

Hello Eastman lovers!
Could I kindly ask you for advice - what products are you using for cleaning your Eastmans?

I got my T486 in Classic a month ago (new), but it's been a real hot summer and after everyday playing and wiping it with dry cloth only, some sweat stains start to build up.  Now, I am ashamed to say that I'm not entirely sure if the finish on the axe is Nitro (the official website doesn't say), but I've read somewhere that it is (don't have the experience to tell by looks or smell).  Internet is full of often contradictory advice on cleaning the nitro finish (f.e. war on naphtha usage on various forums).

Please note I can buy commonly available products (Dunlop, Gibson, GHS etc.) but nothing hyper-specialized (StewMac products are out of my reach).  So far I'm looking for stuff just for cleaning it, no need for the harder stuff that'd hide the scratches (although, if you got any advice on those, it will come handy eventually Smile )

Thanks a lot in advance!

  Used E8D on Mandolin Cafe
Posted by: Zissou Intern - Forum: For Sale / Trade and Online Deals - Replies (16)

There is a beautiful E8D posted in the Mandolin Cafe classifieds. The price is $650 plus 1/2 shipping from Illinois. The back looks so much like Brazilian... but it has to be E.I. rosewood, right?

I contacted the seller, and he is says everything is good to go. It's an older model with the handwritten serial number on the label.

Wink Martin D-16GT
Posted by: campacj - Forum: Other Guitar Brands - Replies (3)

I wanted to share with you guys that I have a Martin D-16GT on the way. The guitar is scratched and roughed up but I got it for $250! I know its a gamble ordering any guitar without playing it first, but really, I just couldn't pass on it. Here's the add:

The seller took $50 off the asking price because he couldn't include a case. I'll let you know how this turns out. I've found  nothing but rave reviews for this model. The guitar is set to arrive this Friday...

  So Anyway....
Posted by: Capefear - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (16)

Like I said in  other thread, a lot has happened since then.....

So I ended up buying an E20 om - got a good deal on Reverb, etc, etc. Got it home, swapped out the pickup, and banged on it.  And banged on it. Practiced on it. Played the local open mics on it, used it for jams, fingerpicking, strumming, etc.....

Maybe the Addy top, maybe not. I just know I like my E6 'budget' guy better. Much more responsive, warmer sound, etc. I remember PV talking about putting that tone-thing on his for awhile - like weeks, or months, or something,,, but I did not try that.

And I never loved it. I tried. Really tried. 5 different sets of strings (JP Pure nickels, D'ADD nickel-brnz, elixir nanos, JP PB's, and Ej16's. Still.... Maybe I just got a dud? Who knows....

Anyway, I sold it..  Now of course, the guy I sold it to thinks it is the greatest thing since night baseball, so maybe I'm just not an addy guy....

And now I am Rosewood-less. But pretty gun-shy right now about buying another without trying it out... There're a few pretty good deals on Reverb right now, including a 722ce and a couple of E8 om's. But again, unplayed (by me), 'restocking charges' etc.

And here in SE NC, it'e either Martin / Fender, or Taylor/Alvarez/Yamaha. No Eastmans... Any suggestions?

The rosewood ban has been lifted by CITES
Posted by: Rens - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (7)

Woohoo! The utterly ridiculous ban on finished instruments with rosewood in them has been lifted, so that's great news for the people who want to buy/travel internationally. No doubt it became clear that it did absolutely 0 for the preservation of rosewood as the problem is that the Chinese discoverd it as a wood for furniture and now use about 50 million cubic meters a year, whereas the entire guitar industry is around 10k (or was it 1k?) cubic meters a year.
I'm not sure where they stand on ebony fingerboards at the moment, I can only hope that piece of non-legislation will be trashed as well.
