2nd hand buyer help
Posted by: Dan_starkey - Forum: General Chatter - Replies (8)

Hi there,

New to the forum and I'm looking for some guidance/advice.

I have seen a really nice example of a T486B online 2nd hand which is described as a 2017 model (manufactured in mid 2016 going by the serial number).

It looks like it has a natural wood headstock as opposed to the ebony headstock... I haven't seen any other t486s with a natural wood headstock (looks like a dark wood, maybe rosewood going by the picture).

Was it common for 2016/2017 models to have a (gloss) wood finished headstock? The guitar has a COA and the serial number appears to be in line with the format of that time but the natural finish of the headstock just looked a bit unusual (that may well be because I've only recently started looking at them so this may be perfectly normal for that age but I just wanted to double check). I have contacted Eastman but they haven't responded as yet.

I have attached a picture for reference

  E20SS with THERMO-CURED TOP???
Posted by: tenorino - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (5)

Hi,

Saw listing for an E20SS-TC but not aware the model was ever offered with TC or thermo-cured top. Can anyone confirm this version of the E20SS is legit?

Thanks!

Photo FS: E10ss/v (SOLD)

Selling my E10ss/v. It’s an Aug ‘21 build so exactly two years old now. I bought it from an AGF member locally who had the dealer do a setup and plek job on it when it was purchased. Plays great, sounds incredible. No electronics. Couple of things I liked about this one in particular, 1) the elbow rub relic job isn’t as dramatic as some I’ve seen and 2) the nut width on my digital calipers comes in just shy of 1.72. I play a lot of fingerstyle arrangements so that was a big plus. Couple dings and scratches as shown in the photos but overall in great shape. Frets look like new top to bottom. Sorry, end of ad got chopped off. Should read: OHSC, CoA, and truss rod tool included.

SOLD. Local sale preferred (central FL) but more than willing to ship at buyer’s expense.

  Acoustic Prices
Posted by: Charlieb - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (8)

I haven't been following acoustic prices but slightly in the past 6-7 years. Within the last couple years I've seen some ridiculous prices for certain acoustic brands.

I bought a new E10 OM in 2017 and paid about 1K or a little less brand new, now they list for almost $1700 not far from doubling in list price. I just looked around Eastmans acoustic site at all models and body sizes. Once you get past the few entry level builds you get into the $1700 up to 3K to almost 4K range in prices. I've been priced out of buying bout any name brand acoustic.

Just looked through Martin site listings and many of their standard builds are in the 2-4K range with a lot of Eastman builds now being listed for close to same prices. Altho I did see a new Martin D45 listed on Martins site for 52K. Other than pride of ownership don't think my ears are good enough to be able to hear 48K improvement in tone over a 4K Martin. But darnit I just missed out on this...

  Music: Guilty Secrets

This is a Baldemar Garza Huerta (aka Freddy Fender) song. I really like Tejano (Tex Mex) music of which this is perhaps not the best example of the genre. A bit sentimental for some maybe - but not for me :-

Anybody else willing to risk losing their street cred - real or imagined? LoL!

  E10OOSS/v availability?
Posted by: NoiseFloor - Forum: Eastman Acoustic Guitars - Replies (11)

I had an E10SS/v and in a fit of stupidity I sold it.  Lately though I've had the urge to get an E10OOSS/v... but they seem to be impossible to find new or in like new shape.  I've been calling around but no luck.  It seems be a model that doesn't get released often?  If anyone happens to have or know of one for sale, let me know!  The other catch is that I'd like to have the least amount of relic'ing I can find.  I am also strongly considering one of the E22OOSS/v models... I think rosewood tone would be too complex for the blues fingersytle I want to play, but walnut could be cool.  And these appear to be a limited release, although Eastman has as many limited releases as standard hahaha... actually one of the things I love about Eastman.

Thanks if you've indulged my rambling to this point!

  For sale/trade

I have a 1948 Harmony Patrician Flattop that has been converted to x bracing.
Thing is gorgeous, sounds great, no issues with it.

I want to move it on to get a more modern style guitar.  I haven't owned an eastman in a long time, so I"d like to get back to either an Eastman or Breedlove.

If anybody has any ideas on trades, I'd love to hear what you'd offer.
For direct selling....x brace conversions are pricey, but I'm not looking to make money on this.  I paid 2000.00 for it, but I'd
be willing to sell for about 1000.00 or so.

In awesome shape for a 75 year old guitar.
